Erik Cua (Philippine) Club Owner..

Erik Cua is a young business magnate best known for revolutionizing the party and club scene in the Philippines. With the help of his parents he started a Cainta Coffee Co. in 1999 just when he was just 20 years old. In 2000, he opened Jack’s Loft. In 2001, he opened club Basement, and in 2003 Temple Bar in GreenBelt with Tim Yap. Then in 2005, together with Yap, Chef Fernando Aracama and Jon Herrera, Embassy SuperClubwas born. It was probably the most talked about club in the history of Philippine clubbing as it redefined nightlife as we know it today.

Followed by a highly successful club, together with Tim Yap, Juan Elizalde, Robbie Carmona, Iza, Calzado, GP Reyes and Stephen Ku the sand of Boracay was rocked as they opened a boutique hotel called “The Tides” in 2007.

In 2008, with night life king Louie Ysmael, international polo player Iñigo Zobel, and GP Reyes, answered a demand for an elite exclusive club with the opening of Members Only. The name says it all, only members can get it, emphasize on ELITE.

Early 2009 Manor SuperClub, formerly Basement, was born. Again this is with Stephen Ku, Tim Yap, and Bingo Manahan. Two rooms, one superclub. It re-energized the night life of Eastwood City.

The same year, after Embassy SuperClub was shut down because of the stabbing incident at Embassy Cuisine, the club rebranded and reopened its doors to the public as Encore SuperClub. Today it remains the hottest club in the Metro. The legend of Embassy lives on.

In February 2010, replacing Temple Bar, together with nightlife staples, Marco De Guzman, Distillery’s Raj Sadhwani, Ivan Zalameda, Premier DJ Manolet Dario, GP Reyes,Izakaya Sake Bar was launched. The Japanese inspired sushi, sake, speakeasy chic talkbar drew Manila’s beautiful young crowd.

And the latest installment of Erik Cua’s Legacy, is Republiq SuperClub. Boasting a floor area of more than 13,000 square feet, the biggest club in the country today opened its doors to the party populate of Manila July 2010, once again continues to revolutionize Philippine clubbing.

His family is rich, but what’s amazing with him is he still made his own fortune and became so successful before the age of 30. Being business minded, hard working, supportive parents and starting out very young really paid off. There are numerous clubs in the Philippines, however they never last long. With Encore on its 5th year in the business and still going strong, it shows that Erik’s business are made to last. The way he revolutionized clubbing would definitely make people remember him for a long time.

Celebrity Nightclubs Shake Up Southeast Asia

It might be time for cities like Miami and St. Tropez to move aside as party capitals for the rich and famous.

Celebrity clubs and resorts are popping up across Southeast Asia, as developers look for new ways to capitalize on the region’s swelling ranks of ultra-rich.

Celebrity clubs and resorts are popping up across Southeast Asia. Among the latest is Nikki Beach, a Miami-based company that has opened ultra-high-end clubs in twelve cities around the world, including St. Tropez and Mallorca, and played host to the likes of Paris Hilton and Usher. It has paired up with Singapore-based developer Castlewood Group and will open several properties and clubs across the region. The first of these, a hotel, spa and beach club in Phuket, Thailand, will open in early 2013, with more to follow in Singapore, Langkawi, Bali and Hainan island in China.

Their desire to expand in Singapore was likely inspired by the phenomenal success of Pangaea ( http://www.pangaea.sg/ ), a luxury nightclub in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands casino resort. Just nine months old, the club is considered to be among the most profitable in the world – chalking up an average of S$150,000 (US$121,000) in revenue per night in recent months, even though at just 3,700 square feet it’s much smaller than similar celebrity nightclub counterparts in Las Vegas or Monte Carlo.

Pangaea is also one of the most expensive nightclubs in the world to get into, with tables costing anywhere between S$2,500 and S$20,000. The most expensive of these has couches lined with gold python skin.

“If you go to some bars… Singapore is increasingly about where you’ve parked your Bentley or Lamborghini, and which table you sit on at a club,” said Mr. Comer. The city-state is home to the highest percentage of millionaire households in the world (15.5%), according to a study by the Boston Consulting Group.

Perhaps counter-intuitively, the same factors that gave Singapore its squeaky-clean, business-friendly image are now driving luxury nightclub operators to the city-state.

“There are plenty of clubs in the world that I have had to wear bullet proof vests in,” said Michael Ault, the owner of Pangaea Singapore and one of the most-recognizable names in the nightclub world with 35 clubs in more than 10 cities to his name. “This is not an issue in Singapore.”

For Mr. Ault, who has owned clubs everywhere from Houston to Sao Paolo, Singapore was a “logical step” – particularly with the opening of Marina Bay Sands in 2010. He says Pangaea Singapore’s revenue revenue is consistently “way above expectations,” with snaking lines outside the modestly-sized nightclub on every one of the four nights a week it is open. This is his only night club in Asia.

But as more Western brand names enter the Southeast Asian nightlife market, nightclub owners say they are not worried but spurred on by competition.

“Everywhere, the fundamentals of partying are basic,” said Mr. Ault. “And we offer the best party there is.”
